|Torquay Directory and Torquay General Advertiser 1845-1846 A set of newspapers for Torquay but with a major difference. Not only are there letters, local news articles, advertisements and weather reports, but also an invaluable local listing of residents, house by house and street by street. White's History, Gazetteer and directory of Devon 1850
Typically comprehensive for a White's Directory. Excellent history of the county of
Devon and each town, with lots of detail about each place to add to your own research. Very
comprehensive listing of all people with trades.

villages and hamlets.

Deacon's Court Guide and Gazetteer of Devon 1882
According to the preface: Deacon's Court Guide, Gazetteer and Blue Book: a fashionable
register and general survey of Devonshire embracing the whole of the towns in the
Eastern Division of the county.
From the Northern Division, Appledore, Bampton, Barnstaple, Bideford, Chumleigh, Crediton, Great Torrington, Ilfracombe, South Molton and Tiverton.
In the Southern Division, Buckfastleigh, Dartmouth, Okehampton, Tavistock and Totnes.
Including Plymouth, Stonehouse, Devonport, Torquay and the city of Exeter.

Kelly's Directory of Devon 1893
By this time we start to see private residents included in the Kelly's directories in
addition to the classified trade directory listings and descriptions and facilities in
each town and village. This is a particularly important and useful directory for those
with Devon ancestors.
